Practice questions
Preparation prompts derived from this entry, not an official inspector interview script.
1Does the manual’s staffing arrangement transfer the Master’s responsibility?
No. The source expressly retains vessel captain and facility-operator responsibilities.
2Which fuel-specific emergency should familiarisation include besides leakage and fire?
Stratification that may result in rollover, using the approved vessel procedure.
Where a finding may arise
Missing evidence or defects inconsistent with the checks above may prevent a satisfactory answer. These are preparation concerns derived from the question, not explicit additional finding criteria or reported past observations.
Past observations for practice
Anonymised reports, manually reviewed before publication. These are reported experiences, not additional inspection requirements.
No reviewed observations have been added for this entry.

Source clarification
The section introduction on page 88 describes IGF applicability by contract from 1 January 2017, or without a contract keel/equivalent stage from 1 July 2017, or delivery from 1 January 2021; specified low-flashpoint conversions from 1 January 2017 are also covered. It defines low-flashpoint fuel by reference to SOLAS II-2/4.2.1.1. The section itself applies when onboard equipment, machinery or a system uses LNG fuel.
