Check the vessel’s actual procedures, equipment and records against these points from RISQ 3.2.

For ships at least 100 m long, and chemical tankers/gas carriers of any size, have a pilot card, wheelhouse poster and manoeuvring booklet; officers know handling and stopping distances and machinery-status effects.Where shaft/engine power is limited, include handling characteristics both with all power available and with the limitation applied in those documents.Have officers explain X-band (3 cm) and S-band (10 cm) radar characteristics, weather effects, blind and shadow sectors.Maintain bridge/bell books, radar-performance records and change-of-watch checklists, including navigation incidents, drills and pre-departure tests in the logbook or another Administration-approved record.Record positions and fixing methods, courses, compass error/leeway/set, daily course/distance/speed made good and distance/course remaining.Enter weather, sea and swell observations at each watch end, severe-weather details/action and matters affecting cargo condition.Follow RightShip’s recommendation to check and record operating radar performance at each watch end unless contrary to maker guidance; record a measured numerical, percentage, graphical or other value.Before handover, confirm ECDIS configuration against the plan, highlight deviations and document the communicated configuration. Track disabled alarms on a formal form approved by the Master and handed to later watches.Use BPG C2.16 and SMS watch-change checks; include ECDIS display settings as recommended by RightShip.
